Stay away from representation for this first project. Remember to consider how the sculpture interacts with the ground plane and the profile of piece from every angle (constantly vary the view from which you are working  - turn your piece! )

Initial Due Dates

For Tues. January 21

- Have read the clay care reading assignment.


- 16 test tiles. 1/2 should be textured. Maintain quality level to practice your facility with clay.

- Bring pottery tool kit, plastic bags, spray bottle, palette knife

-Pay $55 class fee by end of week

-Have researched list of ceramic artists and chosen 2 artists who you want to present (will only have to make one presentation); Sign up for presentation date in class.
Go to the Ceramics Artists link and you can choose anyone marked with an asterix.

Quiz on properties of clay (Properties of Clay and States of  Clay Handout).
Test tile box due.
